Three ways to get to know your style during #coronavirus
Well, it's been weeks for some, a few days for others, and we are all wondering how long this social distancing/isolation/quarantine will last. Many of us are home with children trying to keep them entertained while also working, others are feeling lonely and tired of binge-watching Netflix.
Since all of your closets are probably perfectly organized by now and you have bags of clothes to donate waiting for the next time you leave the house (if not, I can help virtually to clean out your closet - see my closet detox/edit service!), now is the time for some #selfcare. And part of self-care is dressing in clothing that best suits YOU -- your shape, your skin and your style (what you want to put out to the world).
Understanding your body, your skin tone and your overall style preferences make shopping, getting dressed and maintaining a curated wardrobe much easier. And it makes you so much more confident getting dressed, which in turn, makes you so much more confident in life -- it is a proven fact!
So, below are three fun online ways to get to know your own style better so that when you’re next shopping (online or in-person), you don’t make an impulse purchase that you later regret. Knowing yourself better will also help if you’re working with a stylist -- you can more easily communicate your preferences so that she can maximize your investment by knowing you better from the outset.
Determine your general body shape. While every person’s body is unique, there are four general ‘types’. Understanding how your body generally fits in with these shapes will make getting dressed (and shopping) a lot easier.
Find your colors. This will help you choose hues that look best for your skin tone. I’ve had clients who swear by their colors and know which colors to wear to help them feel amazing, especially on an off day.
Define your style. Here is a fun quiz, which is surprisingly accurate. If you’re still not sure what style grabs you, I ask my clients to take stock of everything in their closet to identify themes (e.g. floral + ruffles = romantic; neutrals + stripes = relaxed, casual; etc) -- then write down two or three words that are representative of your style. These words should help you with future purchases and looks -- for example, mine are feminine, casual and polished. Still not sure what I’m talking about? I can help you in just an hour - book a virtual consultation today!
I hope clarifying your style is fun and that we all come out of this virus time more organized and more stylish!
